HSVRL Participation Agreement

 

The following are applicable to all participants (Players, Captains, Representatives, and general community) of HSVRL:

  1. All participants must be between the ages of 13 to 18 years of age. (Please be cautious about sharing personal information in public forums.)
  2. All participants must be currently enrolled in a high school equivalent educational institution. Educational institutions include: public, private, home, and virtual education institutions.
  3. All participants are asked to join the High School VR League Discord server with a school-appropriate*  username. 
  4. All participants are forbidden from engaging in any sort of discrimination or harassment.
  5. All participants must display positive sportsmanship.
  6. All participants are forbidden from placing bets on any games, matches or tournaments involving HSVRL.
  7. All participants agree to be prepared and ready to compete at least 10 minutes prior to all scheduled matches. 
  8. Sending/linking any illegal or harmful material, disclosing another player’s personal information, or attempting to circumvent bans or punishments enforced by moderators and admins in the HSVRL Discord server will result in immediate removal from the server, tournament management systems and disqualification from League participation.
  9.  All HSVRL members must be a part of the HSVRL Discord server in order to participate in the League. If you are removed from the server, this will disqualify you from League participation.

 

The League reserves the right to modify any previous rules at any time if the current governing document is insufficient for the constructive operation of the entirety of the League. Any violation of the above Participation Agreement will result in appropriate remediation as decided by HSVRL admins.

 

*The term school-appropriate assumes the active use of professional language, respectful action, and a sportsmanlike attitude.

 

Media Rights

  1. HSVRL allows a third party or participants themselves permission to broadcast matches, but content during those broadcasts must be school-appropriate. 
  2. HSVRL reserves the right to request that broadcasts be removed.
  3. Broadcasting includes but is not limited to: video streams (e.g. POV-streams), clips, replays, demos, and TV broadcasts.

 

Cheating/Betting/Exploitation

  1. Cheating in any way results in immediate disqualification from the league. The punishment of minor offenses lies in the discretion of the admins. Harassment and unsporting behavior will not be taken lightly and can result in remediation of any elements under league control.
  2. All participants are forbidden from placing bets on any games, matches or tournaments involving the High School VR League.
  3. Any cheating, exploiting, or transgression of this document’s stated rules must be brought to the attention of the Admins. Failure to report may result in a transgression of this agreement.

 

Definitions:

  • Cheating includes the intentional or reckless manipulation of the game and its code in such a way as to confer an unfair advantage on one side or the other.
  • The term “exploit” is intended to include the intentional or reckless triggering of code, attribute or function in a game that is otherwise not envisaged as a legitimate feature of the game.
  • Any use of the spectate function by participants during official matches, either directly or indirectly, to obtain an advantage of any kind is classified as cheating.
  • Any use of external media streaming (stream sniping) or use of external voice communication systems which pertains to the circumstances, content or any facts arising from the match is classified as cheating. 

 

Dispute 

  1. Definition: A dispute can be used to discuss problems that affect the outcome of a match.
  2. Responsible Person: Disputes have to be issued by the player themselves or in the case of a team by the team’s captain.  
  3. Deadline for a Dispute: The latest time that participants are allowed to issue a match dispute is immediately after the match. 
  4. Should a dispute show that a team or player acted against any of the above agreement they will go under remediation which may include the loss of points for that particular match or removal from the tournament completely. HSVRL admins are the last word on this decision.

 

Decisions & Sanctions

 

  1. HSVRL Admins reserve the right to void any match or challenge after it has been played.
  2. Failure to comply with a request for match VODs, stream links or any other item covered in the above rules will disqualify a player or team from participating in any further league events until they are deemed compliant by the HSVRL Admins
  3. In the event of a conflict of interest, affected HSVRL Admins shall recuse themselves from relevant decision-making.
  4. The league reserves the right to modify any previous rules at any time if the current governing document is insufficient for the constructive operation of the entirety of the league. 

 

Transgression of any of the stated rules in this digital document will lead to remediation upon review by Admins of HSVRL.
